Foundations Behavioral Health Services is a community-based behavioral health center serving Mercer County and surrounding areas. Established in 1975, Foundations has been providing professional counseling and support services to local residents for over 40 years. In 2012, the former Gateway Outreach Center merged with Foundations Behavioral Health, allowing us to offer a wide range of mental health and substance use disorder treatment.  Due to the impending retirement of our current Executive Director of 23 years, we are searching for an outstanding individual to provide leadership to our organization.


The Executive Director plans, develops, implements and manages the overall operations and long term fiscal and strategic planning of the Foundations service team which is comprised of over 40 full-time staff.  The director ensures compliance with state (ODMHAS) and CARF standards, and ensures the agency meets the outcomes and expectations of the Tri-County Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Services Board of Mercer, Van Wert, and Paulding counties.  The director acts as a liaison between the agency and external customers for purposes of relationship building, marketing, communication, and works on developing new contracts and programs.  The director must be able to effectively manage a variety of concurrent and varying activities utilizing a good working knowledge of computers and various office software programs.


Responsible to the organization’s Board of Directors, the Executive Director should have the knowledge of legal, governmental, ODMHAS, CARF and other standards and the ability to implement those for the benefit of the organization.  The Executive Director must also have a minimum of a Master’s Degree in counseling, social work, healthcare, business administration, or a related field.  A minimum of 5 years administrative or management experience in a social service, behavioral health, or healthcare setting is also required.  The anticipated starting date for this position is May 2018.
